主題：Computational methods for the dynamics of the nonlinear
Schroedinger/Gross-Pitaevskii equations
內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)介：In this talk, I begin with the nonlinear Schroedinger/Gross-Pitaevskii equations (NLSE/GPE) for modeling Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC), nonlinear optics, quantum physics and chemistry, etc., and review some dynamical properties of NLSE/GPE including conserved quantities, dispersion relation, center-of-mass dynamics, soliton solutions and semiclassical limits. Different numerical methods will be presented including finite different time domain (FDTD) methods and time-splitting spectral method, and their error estimates and comparison will be discussed. Extensions to NLSE/GPE with an angular momentum rotation term and/or non-local dipole-dipole interaction as well as multi-component will be presented. Finally, applications to soliton interactions, collapse and explosion of BEC, quantum transport and quantized vortex interaction will be investigated.

報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介
包維柱,教授，學(xué)士，碩士和博士均畢業(yè)于清華大學(xué)。先后在英國(guó)帝國(guó)理工學(xué)院及美國(guó)佐治亞理工學(xué)院任教、做博士后或訪(fǎng)問(wèn)學(xué)者。2001年起在新加坡國(guó)立大學(xué)工作，2009年晉升為教授。2013年獲得第十屆“馮康科學(xué)計(jì)算獎(jiǎng)”，2014年在第27屆國(guó)際數(shù)學(xué)家大會(huì)上作45分鐘邀請(qǐng)報(bào)告.包維柱教授長(zhǎng)期從事科學(xué)工程計(jì)算研究，主要涉及偏微分方程數(shù)值解法，及其在量子物理和材料中的應(yīng)用，特別是波色愛(ài)因斯坦凝聚,高震蕩色散方程的多尺度算法和固態(tài)去濕等。擔(dān)任過(guò)SIAM Journal of Scientific computing, Asian Journal of Mathematics, East Asia Journal on Applied Mathematics, Journal of Mathematical Study等多個(gè)國(guó)際期刊雜志編委。
